Plastic Plus is well known for our high quality workmanship. We only use cell cast materials for acrylic fabrication projects. Our standard shop tolerances are +/- .060", but we have the capability to hold much tighter +/- .010" tolerances. Plastic Plus operates under three quality control standards. Each of these standards follows a set of guide lines, resulting in an acceptable level of quality, as required by the customer. Out standard quality level is called "Display Quality" and we work up or down from that level of workmanship as the customer requires.
Furniture or Print Quality
Furniture quality is regarded as the very finest quality. Material is of the “G” grade in paper masked acrylic, or the exact material specified on a blueprint. Bonds are bubble and dust free (96% to 100% coverage) and have no edge drying. Edge treatment is scratch free and highly polished. Angles tolerances are +/- 1° at 24" and dimensional tolerances are +/- .020", (unless blueprinted specs are less). Dimensional tolerances can be no less than +/- .010" (except in drill hole size, which is +/- .005"). Packaging includes a plastic bag, polyethylene foam wrapping and Styrofoam peanuts whenever possible.
Display Quality
Display quality is the shop standard unless stated otherwise. Acrylics are of the “C” grade and may be filmed masked. Other materials are of distribution quality as required by customer specifications. Manufacturer’s surface scratching is acceptable in most cases. If surface scratching is severe enough, Novus polish may be used to hide, or remove it. Bonds are nearly bubble free (70% to 95% coverage) and some edge drying is acceptable. Edge treatment is either routed or scraped. Polishing (if required) is hydrogen / oxygen. Standard tolerances are +/- .062". Packaging is dependent on fragility, but includes a polyethylene bag and box as required.
Industrial Quality
Industrial quality is considered the minimum quality required by the customer. Material can be generic and unmasked. Saw cut edges and chipping are acceptable. Bonds are mechanically stable (50% to 80% coverage), but severe bubbling is acceptable. Standard tolerances are +/- .125". Packaging is usually bulk shipping, protecting for breakage, but little consideration for scratching.
